A Bored Woman's grumble

1) I am really super bored recently!!!

2) I am really going to "pok"liao; my bank account is reaching credit soon!!

3) I am no longer looking forward to shop at Compass Point in future after the annual visit of the temple at anchorvale. The shops in that mall is as happening as going to Escape!

4) The food served in Long Beach Restaurant at IMM is rather delicious and of standard.

Shark Fin Soup ****

Special Buttery-sauce Prawns ***** (^^)

Asam-like sweet sour Fish ****

Stir-fried Long Beans***

Stewed Chicken with tofu***

Black Pepper Crabs****

Noodles (yii mian)***

Mango Pudding****

-The prawns, fish, chicken and crabs (especially) needed to be diluted with the oblong tea; rather salty.

- The noodles was a bit oily

5) The night after dinner at Long Beach didn't end as satisfactory as I expected due to:
  • An idiotic silly guy of eri's schoolmate cropped up in the picture, delaying our shopping and indirectly caused the other reasons to follow up
  • Daddy was impatient and irritated as he wanted to rush back home; he left eri and me to go back home by ourselves.
  • Eri received a voice mail to inform that she was activated for flight, a turn-around to Chennai, and was to report at dawn the next day when it was at about 10:30 pm at Jurong East. Argghhh, that really turns off all our joyous mood. Sigh~ i guess being a flight stewardess is not as glamorous as many deemed as with all this damned last-min short notice.
  • The night train was super packed maybe because its on a saturday night. We were standing all the way from Jurong East till Sembawang in a squeeze compartment before we managed to grab 2 seats to rest our poor feets.
  • We were damn tired and bloated after coming home!

06S3 Class Chalet

We had our own class chalet on the 27 Nov at Downtown east. The chalet was quite small but since many of our classmates were not staying over, so i guess it was alright as there is no point incurring unnecessary costs.

BBQ session was simple and organised. The guys helped us to cook and warmed the food, while we helped ourselves with extra servings and roasted our own marshmallows. The marinated satay tasted great. I also get to sit inside Ms lim's new car and get her give us a ride around the car park before BBQ session. Haha it was a bit scary but funny to ride with Ms lim. ^^

We played card games like uno, heart attack and tai-di to kill time. It has really been a long time since i had played continuously rounds and rounds of card games non-stop like a gambling queen. Luckily my hand was quite good most of the time haha...

Valerie and I had stayed over night. That night was one of the craziest night i ever had. While playing cards, we had locked jun bin, shalindran and sara outside the chalet and don't let them come in. They called, badgered and knocked rapidly on the door us and asked us to open the damn door while we joked, ignored and pretended to be asleep, while peeping at the side window to see their reaction.

As we decided to play some pranks on them, finally after some time, Betram went to open the door but before that, he purposely made some monkey faces and mimicked those silly and comical actions to agitate the trio outside before he silently opened the door for them and rushing up the pile of stairs and shut the bedroom door.

We roared into peels of laughter as they tried to barge into our room to strangle us. We switched off the stairway lights and told them to have fun sleeping downstairs! They retaliated by switching off the main the power supply. In the meantime, the guys shouted and challenged each others through the bedroom door. There was plenty of banging on the fragile door. This fiasco continued for some time before the security turned up at the doorsteps to warn us and told us off to lower down our volume! We must be really loud to be able to invite the security guard to come over!

I slept lightly throughout the whole night while valerie slept soundly. I could even hear her soft snores! LOL! I wonder how was she able to sleep in this unfamiliar place with the noise generated by the guys who decided to stay up for the whole night.

The next day, we went to Escape together for our class bonding activities. Escape was a real drag bore! No wonder there was a fall in admission fee in order to attract more people to come. Even after the deduction, it was still super not worth it to splurge for thrills. The only thing i memorable was the gold cart ride because i simply sucks at driving. I kept bumping into the edges and occasionally i felt that the whole vehicle was going to flip over! If i were to go on wheels one day, i can assure that it was a suicidal act as either i will crash onto something, or i kill people on road! I realised that i got no sense of control at ALL! Jialat!

Valerie can race very well though, surprisingly. Hahaha.... I had fun sitting beside her, enjoying the wind while she drove haha... I don't see any problem for her to attain her driving license.

I went back home in the evening. I felt so bushed. Fell asleep while watching tv... I guess this will be the last class gathering we had. 06S3 will dissolve and become part of the history. Bye bye... cya all in mar 09!

The following morning after one sleepless night...

Morning stroll on the beach with valerie...
Plss: Saw one really cute boy on the beach...Shit forgot to take down photo...

Appreciation Tea

Event: MI PU3 Appreciation Tea.
(for all graduating classes; a cheaper alternative of a prom night)

Venue: Orchid Country club; Grand Ballroom
(smack right in between yishun and khatib area)

Date: 16 Oct 2008 (Thurs)

Time: 2:30-5:30 pm

It was not that boring as some claimed as though it would be better if it was a prom night and also to strike off the prize giving ceremony. We had the table games of guessing the identity of our teachers through their baby photos and some through their unique characteristic traits and hobbies. It was super hilarious, we had a good time poking fun at different teachers. Haha! We also had a nice reception and we were extremely unabashed with the servings!

Baby erika display her make-up skills by applying it her SQ make-up on my face. Hmmm, not bad, the foundation and powder had conceal about 99% of my blemishes. That was the 1st time i had wear so much make-up! But i also had a troublesome time removing the make-up once i reached home!

I managed to borrow erika's digital camera to take pictures with my fellow schoolmates and teachers. But the batteries went flat after taking a couple of photos! DER! What the heck!

Mr Lee S.C, my maths teacher. Plsss, he was the 1st one to left during the appreciation tea.
Hehehe, mr lee we caught you!!

Luckily, i wore heels otherwise i will look more like a dwarf standing right beside mr cheng

My 2 HT together with the gals!

The end of final showdown

My A level exams is finally over. I have just finished my last paper at about 11 plus, a few hours back ago. I don't think i will score any A's, but hopefully can at least secure a set of decent grades and a full cert. This marks the end of my tertiary education. These past few months have been tiring and stressful, but still i have braced through all. No matter what the outcome is, how i fare for my A's, i will have no regrets.

During the past 3 years, i have attain some achievements which i am proud of and also have to cope with many disappointments and setbacks encountered. Still life in MI is not that bad overall. Year 1 was the most exciting year even though we were studying in a super worn-down building. There are so many interesting characters, people and tales circulating around the school. I really missed those gaily days in year 1! Year 2 and 3 were more grilling and demanding but still there were always some comfort shared and some precious moment of fun and laughter.

I would like to thank many people for their help and solace during this arduous process. Thank you some much for lifting the many little stones away along this path! I sincerely hope i won't be a disappointment to all of your, may the future, or more specifically, my future be as sunny as a hot summer!

PS: I saw muzzi and his mum at the school bus-stop after my accts paper. Hate to admit. but i think he had become more good-looking as compared to 3 years ago. I almost can't recognise him! He seems to be doing well, working as a police officer in a clementi police branch. All the best to him!

The Five Love Languages

The Five Love Languages

My primary love languages are probably
Acts of Service and Quality Time.

Complete set of results

Acts of Service:
9
Quality Time:

Words of Affirmation:

Receiving Gifts:

Physical Touch:

Information

Unhappiness in relationships, according to Dr. Gary Chapman, is often due to the fact that we speak different love languages. Sometimes we don't understand our partner's requirements, or even our own. We all have a "love tank" that needs to be filled in order for us to express love to others, but there are different means by which our tank can be filled, and there are different ways that we can express love to others.

Take the quiz

I seems to have took this quiz before during HT period. Very familiar! hmmm...

The "torture" continues...

Second week of torture from post-exam dejection continues.... x(

If things are going to continue on at this rate, bleah~I seriously feel like hanging myself up by the end of this year... x(

If S'pore is not such a qualification-based society, perhaps it maybe one of the most ideal places to residue in.

The "Super Sonic"Term

What has happened during these long absence?

As usual, going to bed after past mid-night, waking up before dawn, running at my full speed to hop on to the last bus, dozing off during lessons after a heavy, but "not at all nutritious and super expensive (bo hua; not worth the value)" lunch, being half dead when school ends, completing the mountain heap assignments and pathetically I still haven't complete the whole lot yet.... My Super Sonic school term.

But like matching concept, the amount of work done must match with the amount of pleasure enjoyed so as to achieve an equilibrium point and to prevent "mental disorientation". There's no way that I can keep on moving like a zombie without resting and having fun.

Here are some of the highlights:

My "romantic" candle-light dinner:

At home, of course, haha

One evening during dinner, after pouring for the entire afternoon, the rain got subsidised. But our house got infested by these irritating files, which yield out a small amount of fine silvery powder that causes irritation to the skin. We have no choice but to switch off all the lights and lit up candles so as to chase all these unwanted guests away!

A Stir-fried Caterpillar found in a heap of Veggie!!!

Chu Ting bought the dish from Wok-Delight in the school canteen, supplied by the illustrious GT Food Supply. And while eating half-way through, she discovered that little weird blue thing, which happened to be a caterpillar in a heap of the green leafy veggie! And here's something that's funny, I stupidly thought that this was just a harmless fragments of a broken kitchen appliance at first when Chu Ting dug out the caterpillar because it looked rigid and blue! GROSS!!! My appetite practically drained off after the commotion!

And guess what? Mrs Wong said is was quite common for caterpillars to be found in the leafy vegetables as they are worms feed on vegetables! What the heck! I am skeptical about her explanation. If the cook is serving the food for his own stomach, surely he will wash the veggie thoroughly to rinse off the dirty particles, chop off the rotten parts, make sure that the pots and utensils were clean and the kitchen is HYGIENIC before cooking!

I swear that I will never buy any form of vegetables from that store again.
I also swear that once I steeped out of school, I will never order any food from GT Food Supply. I had enough of that! Remember folks, its GT FOOD SUPPLY...

AKE fund-raising Concert

Overall, it is a delightful school concert! For some pieces, they have created both visual and audio impacts to the audience! Nice!

However, that female singer which they had hired to sing for the concert was really a bad bad bad choice! Seriously I can't believe that they had actually PAID her to sing! The concert would score better without her singing. Though neither her voice is those grating type nor those croaking bullfrog type, it was not pleasant to listen. This is mainly because there was a couple of times she sang out of tune, she couldn't hit the notes and she was out of breathe after singing a long phase. In a way, she has covered the melody with an unrefined vocal.

I could imagine that if I have brought Diana to the concert, she would be so horrified by the singing that in the end, I may end up looking more at her comical reactions than at the performance.

GP Exam and Sports Day

Vesak-day Celebration:
Candlelit Procession through the temple (传灯) at Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Temple

Part of Phor Kark See Temple

Congratulations to Erika!
She is now the prestigious SIA air stewardess, who is undergoing the 4 months grilling training. You go gal!!! yea!

Through Erika, I get to slip onto the SIA kebaya. The kebaya reeks with elegance! I lack the maturity when I wore and paraded with it. My cute bro, ying song, also slip on the the kebaya skirt to annoy me that he got fabulous long slender legs. Damn, the skirt really look good on his legs! I sooo envious!

I know I sounded like an idiot, but it was also my first time seeing so much make-up products... besides the compact powder, blusher and lipstick, there's the concealer, the brow and lip pencil, eye-liner, foundation....

Feast at Peking Restaurant at JB

yum yum

LCCI Exam (today)

I wonder who's that idiot who switch the air con down to 16℃, because I am going to skin him alive! I nearly got frozen to death after the whole exam. My sit was just directly below the air-con. My fingernails had turned dead purple-like after half an hour in the exam room, my teeth started to clatter, my whole arms filled with cold bumps, my fingers were numb. It was just like living in an igloo with no winter-clothing on.

St Nicks' Carnival

Going for carnivals is a sticky and sweaty affair. People squeezing into the crowds, music blasting out loud through PA system, enthusiastic student, teacher and parent volunteers waving, shouting to draw attention to promote the goods they had, stimulated the heat and sweat into the surroundings.

2 weeks ago, I went for the SNGS carnival at AngMio Kio. Whoa! The PHS carnival which I had attended last year was nothing compared to this. St Nick had house every fun thing into their huge compound. A basement packed with arcade games machines, Uncle Ringo at the carpark, Acuvue contacts, Katjies, Super and many other generous sponsorship and a 24 hr school marathon at their stadium, I am quite sure that they had managed to get the funds required to build their new campus right under their belt.

CIP Day at Red Cross Home for the disabled

Last thur was CIP Day!! Our class went to the Red Cross Home for the disabled at Bukit Timah (not sure).. to help out and interact with the residents.

The school as usual has provided us with a one-way transport to our venue. Though it was quite near our school, but I can assure you that if I were to be going there by myself, I won't be able to even locate it with my poor sense of direction! LOL! The home was very---ulu..it was hidden deep inside a corner of the estate. There is a narrow pathway joined at the main road and a small inconspicuous sign leading to the home.

The building of the home was very run-down, a fresh coat of paint was badly needed to liven up the surroundings. It was really a stark contrast to the new condos outside the home opposite the main road. The compound was rather clean but the atmosphere was bad---it was gloomy...

The senior nurse, nurse Lee, brought us to the small conference room. Inside the conference room, there was this "high-honour" board that took up 3/4 of the right-side of the wall, was used to record down the donors and their significant amount of money donated generously to the home as a form of appreciation. Surprisingly, almost all the amount contributed was 5-figure digits, near towards the high end. I was wondering why with such sufficient amount of funds, the condition of the home should be more chirpy.

This query was answered shortly when nurse Lee began the introduction and the briefing of what we would be doing for the next 4 hours. The home consisted of 84 resisdents, age ranging from 4-61 years old. All of them were phyically disabled, while some were also intellectually or were slightly mentally disabled. Most of the care-takers were fillippinos and they lived in dormitories, segregrated at one side of the building.

Since we would also be helping to feed the resisdents as drafted in our proposal, we were also told that there were different diets catering to different residents. Some were on the full (normal) diet, while others were on soft or liquid diets. A small minority of them had to be fed through tubes, which I presumed they were on liquid diet, required more professional help. Some of the young children required special formula milk. One tin of such milk powder (dunno how big the tin is) can fetch up to the price of $30/tin! Expensive tins of milk powder, diapers (all resisdents wore diapers), accomadation, labour... No wonder there wasn't much funds left for infrastructure.

We also went for a tour around the building. Some of the wards were filled with those funny-sourly smell which maybe due to the lack of exposure of the sun. It was quite scary at the first go. It seemed that we had stepped into some kind of mental institution as some of the residents, sitting on wheelchairs along the corridors, kept screaming, making strange noises, while others were bound onto the bed or their hands were swaddled with cloth to prevent them from constantly scratching themselves, kept twitching and turning on the bed. It was later explained that these movements were just involuntary actions which they used to express themselves.

The most memorable time would be the feeding session. I had never done anything like this before, so initially I thought it might be quite a simple task. Afterall, it was feeding, in another way, it was eating!! Everybody's favourite!! But, nay, there were some skills and techniques invovled. It was not as easy as it sounds like.

I was assigned to feed this blind male resident who is on soft diet. He was bornt in 1987 as written, 2 years older than me. I was given a bowl of porridge and was instructed to stir constantly, make sure that it was not too hot for eating. At the 1st attempt, I placed the spoonful of porridge near to his mouth, but his didnt respond. Ms Liao then helped me by placing it onto his lips and tadaa--- he opened his mouth and gulped down the porridge. Feeding took up about 20 mins, occassionally I accidentally dripped some porridge at the corners of his lips and was constantly wiping his lips with the cloth placed around his neck.

Through this CIP, I felt more thankful to just been borned healthy with normal limbs. I perenially complained about how short I am, how unlucky I am, how.... Looking beneath these grumbles carefully, actually that's just some superficial stuff that holds not much agony.

Kiasu or Small-minded?

I was spending my time mugging for wed's maths CT, crouching over my maths assignment on the desk in an isolated corner in the afternoon before this idiotic intruder came striking in.

This intruder is just an auntie in her late forties, I presume. She irked me off from the start till the end. Firstly, when she came to the corner to read newspaper, she kept on adjusting the lighting when HELLO! this was in a bright and sunny afternoon. The surrounding is brightly lit, perfect for anyone to do their reading!

Next, as I was sitting under the one and only fan, those type where it will automatically turn side to side, installed in the corner. Her next move came, as predictable as a mediocre storyline, went and stood up onto the bench, completely oblivious about my presence, without any courteousy of asking for permission like "Do you mind...", tilted the fan directly upwards to the ceiling! She repeated this action thrice within the next ten minutes, pricking my insides to a boiling point!

What the fuck! She rather let the ceiling enjoy the slight breeze than allowing me to have? I really can't comprehend what set of thinkings these kind of people have in their minds.

Come on lah, the power of the fan can be comparable to using a poor hand-made paper fan to fan yourself. Does she really thinks that the logic of hot air rises, cold air sinks will work in this case, when the supposedly cold air differed by just a few degree celsius from the so-called "hot-air". Futhermore, she was sitted at least more than 45°, 6 feet away from me, honestly does it really matter that the fan is adjusted so that the cold air can be spread efficiently around the corner?

I decided to leave for good after a short while as its seems like the mosquitoes were trying to become friendly to me. While I was not more than 10 feet away from the desk, I turned my head slightly to the back, and i saw this scene that once and again, irritated me to the core! That auntie had lunged forward to the desk I just sat, stood up to adjust that darned fan down right to the desk! Arrrggghhh!!! Bugger....

busy...tired...busy again

Ever since school reopens, my life has once again fallen into this busy...tired...busy.... cycle again. But still, i think this is better than leading an idle lifestyle, feeling empty and useless which i had also experienced it before haha!!

Anyway, something interesting to share with your... currently during our MT lesson, we were learning malay language... the chinese in the yr 3 cohort were to attend malay lesson during MT lesson while the malays were to attend chinese lesson. As for the indians, i am not so sure about it. I heard that they have an option to choose between chinese or malay language. But, I guessed that they were most propbably attending lessons with the malay students to pick up basic chinese since I saw none of them in the malay class.

Strange huh? Yea, you bet! Some of us, including myself, can't even cope well with 2 languages already, how well do you think we can handle the 3rd one? LOL! This seems to be some MOE programme to equip students with another basic 3rd language so as to communicate when we encouter someone of the other races who can't speak english... somewhere along this line...I think...

Sigh~ shit! tomorrow there might be an upcoming basic malay test!! ahhhh!!! I haven been touching that pile of notes since last lesson...hmmm maybe i sms kam for help halfway through the test... hehe!!!

Goodbye 2007!

Finally, I managed to meet up with yenling a couple of time during last dec holiday :) We had much fun going out together! To the expo book fair and sales, feasting on the lips-smacking jingle-joy pizza and drumlets until our stomach stretched to the maximum, shopping for the rubik cube, the x'mas present and my new shoes. Haha!! Thanks for your help in assisting me to make my purchase! I like the shoes very much!! If possible I will wear that shoes we chose together next time when we meet up again! Lol!! :D

X'mas celebration in yr 2007 was a small and quiet affair. I met up with yenling and kamariah at Marina Square before x'mas. We spent most of the time chatting, catching up with each of our social lives. Whoa, recevied many shocking news about our gyss cohort...life is really unpredicatable..

Me and yenling further our walk at Novena Square 2...

I really saluted your patience and sympathised your flight. Hopefully those suggestions I gave you can be use in some sticky situations with that "villian" LOL! :D yeah!!

Whoa! Yr 2007 had became part of the history..That's really fast...

Hmm, holiday is over, school will officially start tomorrow...

Seriously, I dreaded about year 2008 because I really don't want it to be another copy of year 2007...

To conclude, 2007 is not a particular good harvest year for me... in fact it can be list as one of my lousy years. Nothing seems to go in the right way as I expect.

But still its 2008 now...I'll jus have to wait and see.. hopefully this is a good and peaceful year for me!
